EVENT OVERVIEW

Purpose:

This event was intended to spread joy to families throughout Brooklyn, by providing warm meals, books, and haircuts. We intended to serve 50-60 people.

Event Summary:

We served over 150 people with hot food, haircuts, hairstyles, manicures, books, groceries, and clothing. With a dozen service providers dedicated to collective care we had an event full of joy and wellness.

Audience Served:

Families from all of the 5 Boroughs attended the event.

KEY OUTCOMES

Total Attendees: 210

Volunteers Engaged: 28

Volunteer Hours Contributed: 28 Volunteers x 8 hours = 224 total hours

Direct Services Provided:

  • 203 meals/plates served

  • 30lbs of clothes distributed

  • 200 books distributed

  • 55 lbs of groceries distributed

  • 40 lbs of hygiene essentials distributed

  • 60 hairstyles/haircuts completed

  • 10 hands manicured

  • 178 individuals supported

IMPACT STORIES

Guest Reflection:

Families came all the way from Westchester County, Long Island, and The Bronx, for a warm meal and to prepare for the holidays.

Volunteer Reflection:

Volunteers want to continue giving back, many testified to feeling purposeful and proud to be in a position to help others.

Notable Moments:

A young, 10-year old boy, was inspired to start his content creation journey and expressed interest in interviewing our very own, Kay On The Line.

This event serves as a call to action for our communities to get involved and support one another. If it weren’t for our supporters, providers, their time, and their in-kind donations, we could not have made this event as grand as it was.

  • A consistent location is essential

Feedback from the Community:

We have been asked by our service to host events every month so that they can give back in the ways they know how.
